Every week I’ll be sharing what I read with you & please share with me what you are reading to inspire ✨ each other and break out of our filter bubbles. What I’m reading 📖 this week: QUIET // Want to know more? Read on!

Do you prefer one-on-one conversations to group activities? Do you work best on your own? And do you often let calls go through voicemail? Chances are you might be the introvert 🙊 type.

We seem to live in a society where being extrovert 🗣 is the default. ‘Quiet’ describes how we moved from modesty being an admired character trait to nowadays extravert ⚡️’out there’ personality branding bonanza.

Sensitivity, seriousness and shyness are mostly seen as second-rate personality types, but this book shows the advantages ✨ of having not only extroverts calling the shots. Solitude 🙌🏻 is an important key to creativity. But creativity (and innovation) often gets killed by extrovert aspects like collaboration and group-think.

Introvert people tend take less risks, which makes them ideal colleagues 👫 on projects which have lots at stake.

Introvert leaders are more open to ideas of their employees than extrovert managers, who are more sensitive to external admiration and maintaining their position as the powerful leader.

As a trend researcher it helps to train more introvert skills, like being able to listen 👂🏽 (to innovators and change makers) instead of talking a lot yourself. Being more sensitive 👁 to your surroundings makes it easier to spot trends too.

Presenting trends might be more of a challenge to an introvert though, so collaborating with extroverts is always a good idea. 🧡
